Trenchless Sewer Line Replacement in San Francisco
Replace a failing sewer line without tearing up your garden, driveway or the sidewalk. Trenchless methods rebuild the pipe from the inside or pull a brand-new one through the old path — one or two small access pits instead of a trench across the property.

Trenchless is a good fit when
- The sewer line runs under a driveway, patio, retaining wall or mature landscaping
- The lateral passes under the sidewalk or street (permits and restoration get expensive fast)
- Roots keep coming back no matter how often the line is cleared
- The camera shows cracks or joint separation along much of the line
- You want the job done in a day, not a week
- You'd rather not re-pour concrete or re-landscape afterward
Why dig if you don't have to?
Most San Francisco laterals can be replaced without a trench.
Traditional sewer replacement means an open trench from the house to the street and then paying to restore everything above it. Trenchless methods deliver the same result — a new, root-proof pipe with a 50-year design life — from one or two access points.
Not every line qualifies, which is why every job starts with a camera inspection. If your pipe has fully collapsed or has a severe belly, we’ll tell you and quote the excavation honestly.
How it works
Trenchless Sewer Services, step by step
No surprises: you know what’s wrong, what it costs and what we’re doing before we start.
Camera inspection
We confirm the pipe’s condition, diameter and route, and decide whether lining or bursting is the right method.
Clean & prepare
The line is hydro-jetted to remove roots, scale and debris so the new pipe seats correctly.
Line or burst
A cured-in-place liner is installed, or a new HDPE pipe is pulled through as the old one is fractured.
Verify & reconnect
We camera the finished pipe, reinstate branch connections, and restore the access pits.
Your options
Trenchless methods we use
We recommend the least invasive fix that will actually last — and we explain why.
Cured-in-Place Pipe Lining
A resin-saturated liner is inverted into the old pipe and cured in place, creating a seamless, jointless pipe inside the original.
Pipe Bursting
A bursting head fractures the old pipe outward while towing a new HDPE pipe behind it. Full replacement, even upsizing the diameter.
Sectional Point Repair
A short liner fixes a single bad joint or crack without treating the whole run.
Hybrid Repairs
Where one section must be excavated — a collapse or a belly — we combine a short dig with trenchless work on the rest.

FAQ
Trenchless Sewer Services questions, answered
Yes. Both cured-in-place liners and HDPE pipe are jointless, root-resistant and rated for 50 years or more — longer than the clay they replace.
Typically one access pit near the house and one near the property line, each about the size of a small door. Sometimes an existing cleanout is all we need.
Most can. A fully collapsed pipe, a severe belly (sag) or certain material transitions may require a section to be excavated. The camera inspection tells us before we quote.
Yes. We pull the required City permits and handle inspection sign-offs as part of the job.
Most trenchless replacements are completed in one day; complex or long runs may take two.
